Greater Noida: A 20-year-old man has been arrested after a video uploaded on social media purportedly showed him making remarks against members of a particular community and the Constitution.
Puneet Thakur was picked up from his house in Jarcha area of Greater Noida on Monday morning. He is believed to have told police he shot the video two years ago.
The video, uploaded on Sunday, drew sharp reactions on social media. “We came across the video after it went viral. It shows a youngster hurling abuses,” said Shripal, the Jarcha police station in-charge.
In the 15-second clip, the youngster uses abusive words against a particular community — without naming it — and rails against the Constitution "written by your ancestors”.
“A team visited his village and nabbed him on Monday. He is currently unemployed. He said he had shot it a couple of years ago and had no idea how it went viral. He admitted it was a mistake and wouldn’t repeat it again,” Shripal said. The 20-year-old was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. TNN
