Mangaluru: Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha, seer of the Pejawar Adhokshaja Mutt, on Monday said that he had submitted a proposal to initiate a national-level campaign to usher in the mythical ‘Rama Rajya’ in the country. The seer, also a trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, was participating at a ‘Guru Vandana’ event organised in the honour of his predecessor at the Pejawar Mutt, the late Vishvesha Thirtha, and a ‘Tulabara’ ritual offered to ‘Pattada Devaru Sri
Rama Vittala’ organised by Kalkura Prathishtana in Mangaluru.
“The construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is not our only aspiration. Work on the temple in Ayodhya is nearing completion. Once the temple is constructed, we need to work towards realising the dream of Rama Rajya in India. So, there is a need to adopt villages, which is the first step towards achieving this goal,” the seer said.
Pointing out that the idea of Rama Rajya was foregrounded in honesty, he said, “People need to be truthful like Rama. Another quality of Rama we must emulate was his patriotism. We must be patriotic, and love everyone in our society. We must work for the welfare of the downtrodden, and refrain from hurting each other. We must strive to take up charitable initiatives such as helping build houses for the poor.”
The pontiff said that the ‘Prathishtapana’ at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was expected to be held during Sankranthi in 2024.
