HYDERABAD: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP) gave a call for a statewide bandh of all schools in Telangana on Tuesday. The organisation stated that the bandh had been called in light of the government's failure in regulating fees in private schools and inability in providing basic supplies in government schools.

"Over three weeks have passed since reopening of schools but till now textbooks, uniforms and even basic like chalk is not available in government schools. On other hand, private schools fees are exorbitantly high. We want to protest against this with a bandh," said Sudharshan, the ABVP city vice president.

According to ABVP across the 14 vibhags of the organisation in the GHMC limits, the bandh has been enforced in the majority of the schools. Several schools, especially in the government sector however continued to operate in the morning. ABVP has stated that they will enforce the bandh across schools of all boards.
