Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): The house of Ravi Sindhi, accused of running large-scale betting in Geeta Colony, may be demolished in the near future. Police is extracting all the information about his house. The Income Tax (IT) department will investigate gold worth 2.5 crore found during the raid on Saturday midnight.
Ravi Sindhi alias Ravi Pamnani was running a large-scale speculative business in a house named Gurukripa in Geeta Colony. Ravi, who used to ride a bicycle, had also involved his brother and son in this work. Both were caught red handed while betting. Two more were also arrested from the spot, though Ravi managed to flee. The amount seized was Rs 21 lakh. It is believed to be the biggest betting amount of Ujjain till date. The police had seized 4 kg 128 grams of gold and 11 hundred grams of silver from the basement locker made in the floor of Ravi Sindhi’s house. The value of gold has been estimated at Rs 2.5 crore and that of silver at Rs 70,000.
The investigation of gold seized from Ravi Sindhi’s house has been handed over to the Income Tax department. The department will find out how Sindhi bought gold worth Rs 2.5 crore. If a legal source of income is not found, then strict action can be taken against the accused. The police are preparing to demolish the house of Ravi Sindhi to convey a tough message to the bookies. In this regard, the house documents are being examined by the Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) staff.
