Margao’s ambitious sewerage project came under the scanner of citizens yet again as the sewage chambers resembled water fountains at many places on Monday.

Motorists travelling on the Margao-Navelim road came across an overflowing sewage chamber at Colmorod as water gushed out the chamber throughout Monday, throwing up a moot question of how come rainwater has managed to enter the underground line.

While citizens placed a plant in the sewage chamber to alert motorists from riding the chamber, the overflowing chamber raised a host of questions about the underground sewerage project.

A citizen pointed out that he had seen the very same chamber overflowing in the last monsoons, wondering whether there was a lack of maintenance from the PWD, Sewerage that is responsible for the situation.

The citizen further demanded to know how come rainwater could enter the sewerage line when it is laid underground.

“Just imagine a situation where the households and business establishments are all connected to the underground line. The sewage will also come out with the rainwater, posing a health hazard to the citizens,” he remarked.
