Mother abandons baby, picks up later

Mysuru: Minutes after a new mother abandoned her four-day-old baby girl at a bus stop in Kollegala, she returned and picked her up on Monday.
The baby was abandoned for more than 10 minutes at the bus stop and by the time mother returned, the public had gathered and police were summoned to the spot.
Kollegal rural police said the mother, a native of Mattipura in Kollegala taluk, works and lives in Bengaluru. She had secretly married without informing her parents. When she came home on Monday, the woman feared her parents and left the baby at the bus stop before going home. Their home is just a stone’s throw away from the Mattipura bus stop.
An officer told TOI that the woman has been warned of action if she abandons the baby girl again.
