The new facility will integrate with the existing hospital and facilitate the Peninsula Health’s Model of Care.
As member of the Exemplar Health consortium, Honeywell will provide the hospital the Honeywell Forge enterprise performance management software to create a more secure facility backed by a 25-year service contract.
Honeywell Forge will allow the Frankston Hospital redevelopment to conduct condition-based maintenance to reduce unplanned reactive work and lower energy costs with a machine learning solution that studies a building’s energy consumption patterns and automatically adjusts to optimal energy saving settings without compromising occupant comfort levels.
The project will include the delivery of an all-electric energy solution to minimise costs and emissions and support Victoria’s progress to net zero by 2050.
When completed, the new facility will use less energy than comparable hospitals and will avoid costly and disruptive conversions later in its lifetime.
“As the Frankston community continues to grow, the redevelopment will allow the hospital to better support its patients, families and staff,” Exemplar Health CEO Fiona McKerrow said.
Honeywell will expand on its existing technology platform installed on the Frankston campus by incorporating innovations in building technology, security, life safety and energy management.
The expansion will see Peninsula Health deploy flexible and scalable technology platform campus-wide capable of supporting its evolving Model of Care with the same level of operational efficiency, connectivity, and redundancy delivered on day one with minimal disruption.
Honeywell will maintain and manage the Frankston facility and its building management system to meet Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) principles when applicable and maintain the Nabers rating to reduce peak energy demand, energy consumption and water consumption costs.
The redevelopment will construct a multi-level tower including a new main entrance, a multi-storey car park, 130 additional beds, new operating theatres and new maternity, obstetrics and paediatric wards as well as greater mental health services.
“Our team is focused on the future for this project – knowing that net zero by 2050 is mandated, we are going beyond the minimum project requirements to help deliver an energy-efficient hospital that provide an optimum indoor environment and therapeutic design, while maximizing energy efficiency,” said Honeywell general manager of services Asia Pacific Stefanie Oakes.
The hospital is being delivered as a public-private partnership, with Peninsula Health as the public operator of all clinical services and Exemplar Health consortium contracted by the Victorian Government to finance, design, construct and maintain the redevelopment for 25 years following construction completion.
The Exemplar Health consortium comprises Capella Capital as infrastructure developer, financial advisor and equity investor; Lendlease as design and construction partner; Honeywell and Compass Group as facilities services providers; and Aware Super as co-investor. The design solution was led by Bates Smart, Congrad Gargett, WSP and Waterman AHW.
