Kolkata: Jadavpur University vice-chancellor chosen national varsity body head

KOLKATA: Suranjan Das, Jadavpur University vice-chancellor, has become the president of Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The notification for the charge, which Das will hold for a year, was issued on July 1.
The post at AIU, a statutory body of all universities, is being taken up by someone from Bengal after four decades.
“It’s a happy day, a day of recognition. I’ll focus on issues, like central funding for state universities and internationalisation of higher education. I’ll address new education policy issues for implementing them at state institutions,” Das said.
