Faridkot resident booked for raping TikTok friend

Ludhiana: Police have booked a Faridkot man for allegedly raping a minor girl, whom he had met through social media app ‘TikTok’ in 2019 before it was banned in India.
According to her grandmother, the 16-year-old girl had come in contact with the accused in 2019. The accused had lured her to come to an area in Ludhiana from where he had taken her to an acquaintance’s place to carry out the crime, the elderly woman alleged in her complaint to the police.

She alleged that on June 28, the accused had met her granddaughter and had made physical relation with her. On June 30, he left the girl at the bus stand in Ludhiana and fled. Afterwards, the girl had called her family members, who brought her home.
Police have booked the accused under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. ASI Santokh Singh said the accused is yet to be arrested.
50-year-old arrested for sexual assault
In another incident, police arrested a 50-year-old man for trying to sexually assault a five-year-old girl. Parents of the minor girl alleged that they had gone to work leaving their daughter at home when the accused lured her with some food article and tried to sexually assault her.
Police have booked the accused under Sections 376, 511 (attempt to rape), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and relevant sections of Pocso Act.
