Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Tall claims of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Maharaja Tukojirao Holkar Hospital to provide better care of pregnant women and children has been exposed by the poor cleanliness and sanitation of the hospital.
Not only outside but the hospital cleanliness and sanitation facilities inside the hospital are also in the worst state and floors are filled with the smell of garbage.
The garbage spread around the hospital campus shows the exact opposite image of the city—the cleanest city of the country – as the campus looks like the trenching ground.
Patients in the hospital claimed that not only cleanliness but the medical facilities are also hit in the hospital as many patients do not get proper treatment even after being admitted for seven days.
Meanwhile, college and hospital administration claimed that the conditions deteriorated due to lack of staff in the hospital.
“The hospital has the capacity of 450 beds as it is the only centre of medical college for the care of pregnant women. The college administration has shifted the gynecology department from MY Hospital to MTH Hospital and the number of deliveries has also increased to more than the deliveries performed in previous hospital,” officials said adding “The hospital requires a staff of more than 250 people but the staff of only 30-40 people is being deployed. Various demands were raised but to no avail.”
Dean Dr Sanjay Dixit, however, claimed that the demand of 270 staff has been approved by the government and work order has also been released. “The hospital will get the staff of 250 employees soon,” he added.
