Gumla admin starts blood donation drive

GUMLA: The administration has initiated blood donation drive to make the district self sufficient in blood requirement. To encourage the residents to join the campaign, officials have announced free medical consultation and treatment for the donors if any disease is detected during the preliminary investigation.
Gumla DC Sushant Gaurav said, “We will keep our blood bank at the sadar hospital well stocked. There are 12 community health centres (CHCs) in the district. The BDOs and COs besides medical officers have been entrusted with the job.” .Each CHC has been asked to collect at least 40 units of blood per camp, he added.
Deputy superintendent of sadar hospital Dr Anand Kishore Oraon said, “During examination before donation, if anyone is diagnosed with any disease, we will call them for free counseling and treatment. Over 400 units of blood have been collected in one week. We require about 500 units of blood per month.”
