Pontiff of Kaginele Kanaka Gurupeetha, Sri Niranjananda Puri Swamy has for long dreamt of setting up a centre that could offer training to civil services’ aspirants, particularly those from rural areas
DAVANAGERE: On Sunday, with the inauguration of the Chandragupta Maurya Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)/ Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Training Centre in Belludi in Harihar taluk, Davanagere, the longstanding dream of Kaginele Kanaka Gurupeetha pontiff Sri Niranjananda Puri Swamy will come to fruition. The seer had always dreamt of opening a training centre to help youngsters crack the civil services’ examinations.
In keeping with the times, the centre is fully equipped with digital coaching rooms, which will help aspirants learn from experts across the country. Meanwhile, the centre is also ready with a fully-stocked library and hostels. Bengaluru-based INSIGHTS IAS will offer assistance to the Gurupeetha in training the aspirants. “We will be providing boarding and lodging at a very reasonable cost to the aspirants, who can enrol at our centre, regardless of caste and creed. We want to focus more on talented students from the rural areas, whom we would like to groom into responsible administrative officers,” the pontiff said.
Vinay Kumar, who heads INSIGHTS IAS, pointed out that talented girls in rural areas keen on pursuing a career in civil services often had to forego their dreams owing to reluctance on the part of their parents to send them to big cities such as Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. “But the centre in Harihar would be an attractive option for such girls. As many as 50 girls can be accommodated at the hostel at the training centre in Harihar,” Kumar said.
Pointing to the need to raise awareness among youngsters in rural areas, most of whom were often content appearing for first division assistant or second division assistant examinations, Kumar said, “This centre will afford them an opportunity to aim higher, to become IAS or KPS officers.”
Kumar is confident of the centre turning into a hub for civil services’ aspirants within the next few years. “We have entered into this in the spirit of an experiment, and are confident that the centre will do well,” he said.
Interestingly enough, Avinash V, who secured 31st rank at the national level in the UPSC examinations this year, and was the state topper, is a Davanagere resident. “This centre will be very useful to aspirants who are not from affluent families. The lack of such training centres in Davanagere prompted me to join INSIGHTS IAS in Bengaluru. Had the centre in Belludi been set up earlier, I would not have left for Bengaluru,” Avinash said.
