MANGALURU: “Drug abuse is a social issue. Students must inform law enforcement agencies, if they come across any drug abuse cases, be it peddling or consumption,” said Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner K V Rajendra.
He was speaking during The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking programme organised by the district administration, zilla panchayat, health and police departments, in association with St Aloysius College, on Saturday.
The DC said that youth have a bigger role in society, to eradicate drug abuse. “Youths are the eyes and ears of society. Youths are likely to become addicted to drugs. There are many ways to influence them, starting from social media. One must stay away from drugs. Instead, youths must dedicate their life to getting well educated,” he said. “Stay away from drugs, instead channelise your energy to make good friends, and work for the betterment of the country,” he advised the students.
