‘Contractor must repair Margao roads’

Margao: The Shadow Council for Margao has pointed out that the hotmix carpet laid prior to the monsoon has started washing away with just the beginning of season and has urged PWD minister Nilesh Cabral to check “why Margao roads got only the first layer of macadame when the tenders specify two layers of hotmix”.
“For mysterious reasons, we see that most of Margao roads are provided with the first layer of hotmix carpet initially, and the second coat is either laid after several months or years or never laid at all. And since most of the tenders are titled as ‘laying of hotmix carpet for various roads in Margao constituency,’ it is practically impossible to know which work is part of what tender,” Savio Coutinho of Shadow Council said.
He demanded that the erring contractor be held responsible for the damage and immediate repairs be carrie dout.
