An FIR was registered in Jaipur on Saturday night against a TV news anchor, BJP national spokesperson Rajyavardhan Rathore and others for allegedly spreading falsehood by doctoring Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's comment in Kerala to appear as if it was a remark on the Udaipur tailor's murder.
The FIR was registered on a complaint lodged by local Congress leader Ram Singh at the Banpark police station under IPC sections 504 (intentional insult), 505 (criminal intimidation), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth, etc.), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).

5.2-magnitude earthquake rattles China's Xinjiang: CENC
A 5.2 magnitude quake jolted China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Sunday. The earthquake shook the county of Akqi in northwest China at 6:02 a.m (Beijing time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), reported Xinhua. The epicentre was found at 40.88 degrees north latitude and 78.14 degrees east longitude.
Texas clinics halt abortions after state high court ruling
Clinics were shutting down abortion services in the nation's second-largest state Saturday after Texas' Supreme Court blocked an order briefly allowing the procedure to resume in some cases, the latest in legal scrambles taking place across the United States following the reversal of Roe v Wade. The Friday night ruling stopped a three-day-old order by a Houston judge who said clinics could resume abortions up to six weeks into pregnancy. The following day, the American Civil Liberties Union said it doubted that any abortions were now being provided in the state of nearly 30 million people.
Nadal eases into Wimbledon last 16 for 10th time
Rafael Nadal reached the fourth round at Wimbledon for the 10th time on Saturday with a straight sets victory over Italy's Lorenzo Sonego. Second seed Nadal, the champion in 2008 and 2010, swept to a 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 win. The 36-year-old had required back-to-back four-setters to make the third round and was expected to be tested by Sonego who made the fourth round last year.
Sri Lanka to get three ships carrying fuel, two in July
Sri Lanka will receive three ships containing petrol and diesel this month and another in August, the Chairman of Lanka IOC, the subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation, said on Saturday as it will give relief to the people facing fuel shortages. One ship is expected to arrive between July 13 and 15 and another ship is scheduled to reach between July 29 and 31. And the last one will reach the island nation between August 10 and 15, Daily Mirror Online reported.
Palestinians give bullet that killed journalist to US team
The Palestinian Authority on Saturday said it has given the bullet that killed Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh to American forensic experts, taking a step toward resolving a standoff with Israel over the investigation into her death. Abu Akleh, a veteran correspondent who was well known throughout the Arab world, was fatally shot while covering an Israeli military raid on May 11 in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.
Israel shoots down Hezbollah drones over Mediterranean
The Israeli military on Saturday said it shot down three unmanned aircraft launched by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah heading toward an area where an Israeli gas platform was recently installed in the Mediterranean Sea. The launch of the aircraft appeared to be an attempt by Hezbollah to influence US-brokered negotiations between Israel and Lebanon over their maritime border, an area that is rich in natural gas.

Egypt closes coastal area after shark kills Austrian swimmer
Egyptian authorities on Saturday closed off a stretch of the country's Red Sea coastline, a day after a shark attack killed an Austrian woman swimming near the resort of Hurghada. The 68-year-old woman, who lost a leg and an arm in the shark attack, died shortly after she was brought to the private Nile Hospital in Hurghada, an Egyptian health official said.
