GURUGRAM: A group of residents of Chintels Paradiso, where a cave-in of flats killed two residents on February 10, held a meeting with developer Ashok Solomon on Saturday and demanded that the common area maintenance charges be kept on hold till the time IIT-Delhi’s structural audit report comes.
They also demanded a rollback of power backup charge hike. The residents claimed that the diesel generator charges have been increased up to Rs 36 per unit, which “is arbitrary and unjustified”.
“We have been going through a tough time both financially and mentally, and at this stage we expect the builder to support us rather than imposing certain charges which are arbitrary. Such unilateral decisions to increase the power backup charges and levying penalties on delayed upkeep fees is unacceptable,” a resident said.
“We have urged the developer to defer the CAM charges payment and let the structural audit report come so that there is some clarity as we are not sure whether the structures are safe to reside or not,” he added.
The representative of the developer could not be reached for a comment, despite repeated attempts.
