Udaipur beheading: Four accused sent to 10-day police custody, thrashed by lawyers outside Jaipur court; watch video

The National Investigative Agency produced all four arrested accused of the Udaipur beheading incident in the special NIA court of Jaipur on Saturday. The court has granted 10 days of police custody for all the accused Riyaz Akhtari, Ghouse Mohammad Mohsin and Asif. Meanwhile, in a bizarre incident, the lawyers thrashed the accused when they were being taken back by the security personnel.

The main accused Riyaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad were shifted to Ajmer high-security jail on Thursday night and were brought from Ajmer to Jaipur to produce in court, while the two others were brought from Udaipur.

"The NIA had moved the application for 10 days of remand which was granted by the court. Now the accused will be produced before the court on July 12th," said PP Sharma, the advocate of NIA.

Lawyers thrash accused

Tight security arrangements were made on the court premises but the security personnel could not handle the lawyers who gathered in large numbers outside the courtroom. Lawyers raised slogans outside the courtroom to encounter the accused and demanded the death sentence.

The incident of thrashing the accused took place when they were being taken back after the hearing. Despite the security, the lawyers reached out to the accused. The lawyers thrashed and slapped the two accused Asif and Mohsin and tore the clothes of one of them.

Curfew relaxed for 4 hours in Udaipur

The curfew was relaxed for 4 hours in Udaipur on Saturday. The situation remained peaceful and under control during the relaxation. "Looking at yesterday’s peaceful Rath Yatra, four hours of relaxation was given on Saturday. As the situation improves, we will give further relaxation. Ample security has been provided to the deceased’s family," said Prafulla Kumar, IG Udaipur range.

In the meantime, the BJP leader Kapil Mishra reached Udaipur and met with the deceased Kanhaiya Lal's family. "Around 14,416 people across the world contributed Rs 1.70 crore for the family and injured Ishwar Singh. We’ll provide Rs 1 crore to the family and take up responsibility for Kanhiya’s son’s coaching," said Kapil Mishra.

More action on police officers of Udaipur

Looking at the negligence in handling the case, the Rajasthan government has suspended Udaipur ASP Ashok Kumar Meena and transferred 4 Rajasthan Police Service officers posted in Udaipur. Earlier, the government had transferred the Range IG and SP of Udaipur in connection with this case.

BJP denies any connection with accused Riyaz

Rajasthan BJP has denied any connection with the accused Riyaz and said he is not the primary member of the party. the state president of BJP minority cell M Sadiq Khan said, "The party has no connection with any of the accused of the Udaipur incident. Anyone can have a picture with leaders in a public function but it doesn't mean that he is our party member."

It is to mention here that some pictures of the main accused Riyaz have gone viral in which he can be seen with senior BJP leader and leader of opposition Gulab Chand Kataria in a public function.
