Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh): The Pithampur Municipality launched a sapling plantation drive with the advent of rain.
Pithampur Industrial Area Pithampur Municipality started the campaign to make the town green on Friday. Chief Municipal Officer Dr Madhu Saxena and all the zone in-charges and employees of the civic body planted a large number of saplings in the Ganesh temple at village Kheda Satnala and other areas on Friday. Dr Saxena said that the plantation will be done in all zonal office areas of the municipality. The responsibility of taking care of the saplings is also being fixed so that proper care is taken and the saplings grow into trees.
There are plans to do a plantation on the divider on the main highway. In a bid to make the town green, create a clean environment and reduce pollution caused by industries, industrial units of the area are being encouraged to plant trees. All officers and employees of the municipality, community and public representatives and municipality engineer Sudhir Thakur were present on this occasion.
