Indore (Madhya Pradesh): About 15 days have passed since the onset of the monsoon, but citizens have not witnessed any continuous spell of rainfall, so far. They had to settle for intermittent rain continuing with varying intensity in different parts of the city throughout the day on Saturday.
Regional meteorological department officials recorded 3.6 mm rainfall throughout the day with which the total rainfall of the season has reached 129.2 mm (5.08 inches), so far. Met officials said that the conditions will remain the same for the next couple of days and a good spell of rain will start after July 4.
Citizens woke up to dark clouds and could not see sunshine throughout the day. The drop in day temperature, coupled with rain, provided relief to the people, but there was a rise in humidity in the evening which turned the weather sultry.
“The monsoon trough now passes through Anupgarh, Narnaul, Gwalior, Sidhi, Daltonganj and Diamond Harbour and, thence, eastwards to the north-east Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation over the central parts of Rajasthan and neighbourhood persists, while a trough is passing from the above cyclonic circulation over the central parts of Rajasthan and neighbourhood to west central Arabian Sea. Similarly, the cyclonic circulation over north-east Madhya Pradesh and, due to these conditions, humidity incursion is taking place, causing rainfall in many parts of the state. There are chances of a good spell of rainfall after July 4,” Met officials said.
The maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 23.7 degrees Celsius.
