COIMBATORE: MP P R Natarajan on Friday instructed civic body officials to remove encroachments on a corporation road at Senthil Nagar near Sowripalayam in the city.
The move comes after the residents sought the MP’s intervention in the issue after corporation officials failed to take any action on their complaints.
The residents said the road was encroached by an individual, who owns land adjacent to the road.
Lesli Lalcy Soosai, a resident, said the road was more than 100ft long. “The road connects Senthil Nagar layout and Mayflower layout, giving us access to Nava India.”
He said the trouble started after the individual in question bought a piece of land near the road six months ago.
V Suresh, another resident, said, ““He erected a fence across the road, restricting our movement. We had made several representations to the civic body, but in vain.”
On Friday, Natarajan inspected the spot and instructed the corporation officials to survey the contentious place and remove encroachments. tnn
