Lokesh Jagalasar is new SP of Dharwad district

Dharwad: Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Lokesh Jagalasar assumed charge as superintendent of police of Dharwad district on Wednesday.
He succeeds P Krishnakant who has been transferred as deputy commissioner of police, Bengaluru South division.
Thirty-two-year-old Lokesh hails from the Kanaga village of Raibag taluk in Belagavi and is from the 2014 IPS batch. He has served as the SP in Bagalkot district before moving to Dharwad.
Lokesh did his schooling at Athani and PUC at St. Paul’s High School, Belagavi, and then BTech from the National Institute of Technology, Surathkal.
He said his priority was to maintain law and order in peace-loving Dharwad. “I have received complaints about liquor being sold illegally, particularly in the villages. I will work to end this menace, and crack down on those involved mercilessly,” Jagalasar added.
He sought the cooperation of people in maintaining harmony.
