Taking action on the negligence in the brutal Udaipur beheading case, the Rajasthan chief minister late Thursday (June 30) announced the transfer of the top cops of the city.
Udaipur Inspector General (IG) of Police, Hinglaj Dan and Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Kumar, have been sent to non-filed postings late on Thursday night.
A total of 32 police officers, including the IG and SP of Udaipur, have been transferred.
Hinglaj Dan has been sent to IG Civil rights. He is replaced by Praful Kumar, who was currently heading the SIT team constituted for this case.
At the same time, SP Udaipur Manoj Kumar is sent to the second battalion of Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC) in Kota. He is replaced by Vikas Kumar.
Meanwhile, CM Gehlot had met with the family of deceased Kanhiyalal on Thursday and later, in a meeting of officials of Udaipur, Gehlot expressed his deep displeasure on the negligence of the Udaipur police related to the brutal killing of the civilian.
There are reports that Gehlot read out the letter given by Kanhiyalal (the victim) to the police regarding his security. Over this, Gehlot asked the officials "why did police go for a compromise rather than taking action on the accused who were threatening Kanhiyalal?"
The SHO of the concerned police station has already been suspended.
