CM orders release of water from Barur big lake for irrigation

Krishnagiri: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday ordered the public works department (PWD) department to release water from Barur big lake for irrigation. Water for the first crop will be released from Barur big lake through east and west main canals from July 1 to November 12. About 2397.42 acres of agricultural lands will benefit. Of them, 1477.35 acres will come under the east main canal while 920.07 will come under the west main canal. “A few hundreds of acres of land also benefited directly from the lake,” a PWD official. He said villages that would benefit from Barur lake include Barur, Keezhkuppam, Puliyur, Kottapatti, Pendarahalli, Thathampatti, Jingalthirampatti, Arasampatti and Viruppampatti. tnn
