Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh): The establishment of 'State Library’ that was announced with much fanfare in the year 2019 still remains a dream. The state government had also allocated a budget of Rs 10 crore but the project hasn’t taken off so far, said the officials.
A state-of-the-art library was announced in 2019 that was to be established in the state capital to facilitate students. Officials of the school education department said that the place for the library has been identified and further process is on. “The State Library will be constructed near seven number stop as it has several schools around. These schools include Subhash Excellence School, Nutan School and Kendriya Vidyalaya. Even women’s polytechnic is also around,” said the district education officer, Nitin Saxena.
Earlier, the department had set a target of completing the library by the year 2020-21. Now the officials are tight lipped on the project and refuse to comment on record. According to plans this multi-purpose library was supposed to have a book collection of more than two lakh books on various subjects. It will not have books related to syllabus but also for preparation of competitive exams.
Former school education minister, Prabhuram Chowdhary, had earlier said in the Assembly that the multi-purpose library will also have auditoriums to organise seminars and workshops related to problem solving and preparation of competitive exams.
“The proposal was sent to the district administration. First the land was identified but later it was decided that it will be constructed in one of the schools located near the seven number bus stop,” said a senior official, requesting anonymity.
