Ahead of the second phase of voting under the three-tier panchayat elections, voting material was distributed on Thursday. While the distribution of voting material is going on peacefully across the districts, Barwani district headquarters reported a bizarre incident, where the presiding officer reported to the centre in an inebriated condition.

When the seniors came to know about the incident, they immediately suspended him.

According to information, the presiding officer was identified as Rumal Singh Bhargava, a workshop director at the Government Polytechnic College, Barwani. He was suspended with immediate effect for reporting on duty under the influence of alcohol.

According to Thikri Returning Officer, voting material was being distributed from the ITI campus well to all the polling party members on Thursday. At that time, Sector Magistrate number-2 Nilesh Durkhure had given a report and told that the presiding officer of the polling party number-1096 of his area was consuming alcohol. Due to this, he was unable to discharge their responsibilities properly. The action was taken on this with immediate effect.
