Mysuru: City police have imposed restrictions on the movement of vehicles on Chamundi Hills on all Fridays during the Hindu month of Ashada and during Chamundeshwari Vardhanti. No private vehicles will be allowed atop Chamundi Hills except vehicles having entry passes, Karnataka STate Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses, and those of residents of Chamundi Hills. The restriction starts at 10pm on the eve of all Fridays and Vardhanti.
The city police commissioner has passed an order under the provisions of Karnataka Traffic Control Act. The district administration has made travel arrangements for devotees willing to have darshan of deity Chamundeshwari. KSRTC buses will be operated from Lalitha Mahal grounds to Chamundi Hills from 3am to 10pm during Ashadas and devotees are requested to make use of this free facility.
Parking places have been provided at the Lalitha Mahal grounds for devotees’ vehicle. Those willing to climb the hills on the steps may park their vehicles in an open ground near Panjarapole, police said. tnn
