102 in Patna among 178 Covid cases in Bihar

PATNA: State registered 178 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the total number of active cases to 933 across the state. Maximum, 102 cases were reported from Patna. Of the total active cases, over half of them are in the city with 569 people yet to recover.
On Wednesday, 21 Covid-19 patients were admitted to different health institutes, including three at the private hospitals, while the rest 912 were under home isolation.
Nodal in-charge of Covid-19 at AIIMS-Patna, Dr Sanjeev Kumar, informed that four patients were undergoing treatment at the hospital, of which a 10-year-old boy was on a ventilator. "He has been at the hospital for the past six days and has lung and cardiac issues," said Dr Sanjeev.
As per the data shared by the state health department, 178 new cases were reported against the 131912 samples tested in the last 24 hours. In Patna, 102 cases were reported against 7544 samples tested, taking the positivity rate to 1.35%. Apart from Patna which had the highest number of new cases, Darbhanga registered 10 cases, followed by Bhagalpur and Banka with seven cases each and Begusarai with five new cases.
As far as active cases are concerned, Patna was on the top in the list with 569 active cases, followed by Bhagalpur (57), Muzaffarpur (45), Gaya (38), Banka (23), Rohtas (22) and Saharsa (20).
In a pan India report, Bihar was at 13th position in the daily caseload on Wednesday. Chhattisgarh was above it with 186 new cases and Andhra Pradesh was below with 172 new cases registered on Tuesday.
