Jharkhand: Over 2,000 cops and volunteers for Rath Yatra from Jagannath temple

RANCHI: Around 1,000 police personnel, magistrates and an equal number of volunteers would be deployed in the city to ensure peaceful Rath Yatra from the Jagannath temple at Dhurwa to ‘Mausi badi’ on Friday.
Ranchi SSP Surindra Jha, city SP Anshuman Kumar, and other officials reviewed the preparation for Rath Yatra with members of the Jagannathpur Mandir Nyas Samiti on Wednesday.
The SSP said, “Apart from the police personnel deployed at the venue, the crowd would be monitored with the help of drones and watch towers. The administration would also maintain a vigil on the devotees with the help of closed circuit television cameras. Over 14 drop gates would be erected around the temple for controlling the movement of vehicles and people.”
