People raise slogans during the funeral procession of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur. Kanhiaya was murdered Tuesday at his shop by two men for allegedly posting a social media statement in favour of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.
A day after the gruesome Udaipur murder, BJP accused Rajasthan's Congress government of 'creating an atmosphere which led to such an incident'.

"Rajasthan chief minister has termed this incident murder. This is a terror attack," BJP spokesperson Rajyavardhan Rathore told media persons in New Delhi. Incidentally, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot in a tweet said: "...Police officials said preliminary investigation has revealed that the incident was prima facie done to spread terror."

"The current government is responsible for the Udaipur terror attack. They have done everything to encourage terror organisations in the state," Rathore alleged, claiming that there were different rules for different religions during festivals in the state. "While one community gets special privileges, there are restrictions on another community. For the past six months, not a single week has passed without a terror or jihadi incident in Rajasthan," he alleged.

Congress responded with a demand for strong initiatives from the Centre to control religious extremism and maintain a peaceful environment in the country. "Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has been saying for the past two months that the prime minister and the home minister should appeal to control the communally charged-up atmosphere in the country," Congress media department chairman Pawan Khera told media persons in New Delhi.

"The Gehlot administration acted swiftly and arrested the accused within six hours. He fast-tracked the case and lost no time in taking action," Khera told ET. "What was done by the BJP governments in the case of Kamlesh Tiwari and Subodh Singh. The BJP ecosystem owes a lot of answers."

On Wednesday evening, Gehlot called an all-party meeting in Jaipur which was attended by BJP, RLD, CPI(M), CPI and some independent MLAs. The mobile internet has been suspended in several parts of the state.
