Infighting in Congress over Aurangabad renaming
There is anger in Congress over the name change of Aurangabad. In the meeting held earlier today, Muslim MLAs and leaders of the party protested against the renaming of Aurangabad and Osmanabad. Reportedly, over 200 Muslim MLAs have tendered their resignations.
BJP core meeting underway
A meeting of the BJP core committee is currently underway at Devendra Fadnavis' residence 'Sagar'. State BJP in-charge CT Rave, other party leaders Chandrakant Patil, Girish Mahajan, Praveen Darekar and several others are present.
Key meeting of rebel MLAs underway in Goa
Eknath Shinde is likely to return to Mumbai after a meeting with other rebel MLAs at Goa's The Taj hotel. BJP MLAs are also currently staying at the same hotel.
In the meeting, Shinde is briefing rebel MLAs on how to address the people in their constituencies about their decision to switch sides.
Additionally, BJP national general secretary CT Ravi has reached Devendra Fadnavis' Mumbai residence.
Bombay HC hears two PILs on the political crisis in the state
Bombay High Court is currently hearing two PILs- First plea is for Eknath Shinde and others to resume work while the second PIL urges registration of an FIR against Uddhav Thackeray, who resigned as CM yesterday, and others. The bench is led by CJ Dipankar Datta.
HC directs petitioners in first PIL against Shinde to deposit cost of Rs. 1 lakh as a pre-condition for the petition to be heard.
"Prime facie we find PIL is politically induced and made without requisite research before invoking PIL jurisdiction," the court said.
The bench has dismissed second petition by Hemant Patil seeking FIR against Thackeray, with liberty to approach the magistrates court.
"What does the CrPC provide? Move a private complaint. Anyone can file a complaint. Dismissed with liberty," the bench said.
'Uddhav Thackeray should've faced trust vote': Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat
Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat says, "I feel that he (Uddhav Thackeray) should've faced trust vote but he gave his farewell speech at the end of Cabinet meeting itself. Uddhav Thackeray is a sensitive person with simple nature. He did not like a few things, so he resigned."
"All our MLAs were present for trust vote today. But now the next strategy will be discussed in today's meeting (in Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan)... there's no dispute in Congress regarding the name change of Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar," he added.
Eknath Shinde says 'No discussion about portfolios with BJP yet'
Taking to Twitter, Shinde said, "Venerable Hindu Heart Emperor Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray's idea of Hindutva, Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Saheb's teachings, overall development of Maharashtra and development works in the constituency of MLAs is our focus."
In a following tweet, he added, "There has been no discussion with the BJP about which and how many ministerial posts, it will happen soon. Until then, please don't believe the ministerial lists and rumors about it."
Several hours after Thackeray's resignation, Shiv Sena rebel and BJP MLA get death threats
Rebel Sena MLA Balaji Kinikar and BJP MLA Prasad Lad revealed that they were getting death threats.
A police official said that an anonymous letter was received at Kinikar's office in Ambernath. The letter alleged that the rebel MLA has been 'troubling' Shiv Sainiks in the town and thus, he will be killed one day.

Taking to Twitter, Congress leader Sachin Sawant wrote, "Public notice- A washing machine has been started in the BJP office from today. Please note."

While speaking to the media on Thursday morning, Sanjay Raut also said, "We got emotional yesterday when Uddhav Thackeray resigned as Chief Minister. Everyone has faith in Uddhav Thackeray; people of every caste & religion support him. Sonia Gandhi and Sharad Pawar trust him."
"Our people only backstabbed us. The rebel MLAs had a contract to break the MVA government. Shiv Sena is not born for power, power is born for Shiv Sena. This has always been Balasaheb Thackeray's mantra. We will work & come to power on our own once again."
Further speaking about his ED summons, Raut said, "I will be going to the Enforcement Directorate office tomorrow." ED had issued a second summon to Raut, asking him to appear on July 1 in connection with the Patra Chawl land scam case.

Maharashtra NCP chief refutes allegations of rebels
State NCP chief Jayant Patil, who held the Water Resources & CAD department, hailed CM Thackeray for his good governance during his stint in power. While speaking to the media, Patil lamented the Shiv Sena rebels. He also shared figures to dismiss their allegations that the state government allocated funds for development work in their constituencies rather than to NCP legislators.
