Congress will bounce back from Karnataka: Hebbalkar

Belagavi: Belagavi (rural) MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar on Wednesday expressed confidence that the Congress party would bounce back from Karnataka in the upcoming Assembly elections.
“The present condition of the Congress in the country is worrisome. But I wish it bounces back from Karnataka. It is the same Karnataka Congress that held the hands of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during her tough times and gave her strength. Later, Sonia Gandhi tested her fate in the Ballari parliamentary constituency and became victorious. We are trying to win the hearts of voters and hope we will be successful,” she said on Wednesday.
She expressed displeasure about the toppling of elected state governments one after another through ‘Operation Lotus’. “If there is no security to an elected government, then there will be no security for democracy. If such things become common, then why should we hold elections? What the BJP is doing is a murder of democracy and is an insult to voters. This doesn’t bring anything good for the country,” she said.
She said the BJP government was using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to threaten elected representatives. The ED notice to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut is the latest evidence, she said. “Until the educated class in this country doesn’t understand the hidden agenda of the BJP and the RSS, democracy will continue to be in danger. No party or leader can stop it,” she said.
