Mysuru: Social activists and parents with members of the Karnataka Rastra Samiti held a protest in front of a CBSE school in the Bogadi area of the city and accused the institution of denying admission to 24 students allotted seats under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
The agitators urged the district administration to intervene and ensure justice for the students from socially and economically weaker sections.
DDPI Ramachandra Raje Urs visited the school and said that the department will ensure justice to the students, besides taking action against the school.
He interacted with a few students.
“I will send a report to the commissioner,” Urs said, adding that he had sought details from the school.
He assured the parents that the interest of the students would be protected.
The parents alleged that under RTE, 12 students were allotted for LKG and 12 students for Class I in this school. The admission process was completed in May. All were informed that the classes will start on June 6, they said.
However, on June 5, the parents were informed they would have to wait for a few more days to send their kids to school. “When we approached the school, the management representatives declined to admit our kids saying the management has changed and no decision on admitting RTE students was taken,” a parent said.
The parents said that they approached people’s representatives and the district administration seeking a solution. “We are waiting for an early resolution,” some parents said.
