The trailer of the much-anticipated film, 'Ek Villain Returns', was launched today amid much fanfare.

During the trailer launch, producer Ektaa Kapoor revealed that the story of the movie was actually with Rohit Shetty and that he gave it back to her the moment she asked for it.

She shared, "It was during the lockdown that Mohit Suri and I decided to take the 'Ek Villain' franchise ahead. But we did not have a strong script back then. The story which we now have for 'Ek Villain Returns' was something that Mohit Suri had given to filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who is also my rakhi brother."

"Wasting no time, I went to Rohit and asked him for the script, and he returned the story to me without asking twice. He said that the story is great and that we should make a really good movie out of it," she added.

She went on to say, "He forcefully gave the script back to me, and I took it readily as well, because behen ka toh haq banta hai!"

'Ek Villain Returns' is the spiritual sequel of the 2014 action-thriller 'Ek Villain', which was also helmed by Mohit Suri. The film brings together Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria together on the silver screen for the very first time.

'Ek Villain Returns' is set to hit the silver screens on July 29, 2022.
