Three held for mobiles, gold theft

Calangute: Three persons from West Bengal were arrested by Calangute police on Wednesday for allegedly committing a theft of four mobile phones and a gold chain belonging to a Telangana tourist on Monday.
Police said they received a complaint on June 27 by Srinivasulu, a resident of Telangana, stating that two unknown culprits snatched his Apple Iphone 13 mobile and three other phones, as well as a gold chain weighing 30 grams from his neck, all worth Rs 2.9 lakh. Acting on the complaint, an offence under Sections 356 and 379 of the Indian Penal Code was registered, Calangute PI Laxi Amonkar said.
Based on CCTV footage, police detained three persons - Yahud Ali Sarkar, 20, Ajijur Rehman Sarkar, 18, and Bappa Raj Molla, 19, all natives of West Bengal. They were brought to Calangute police station where they confessed to committing the crime.
