Turbhe MIDC police arrested a 23-year-old driver for allegedly killing his friend on Wednesday morning in a slum in Turbhe. Police said that they had a quarrel the previous night and the accused allegedly hit his friend’s head with a stone in the morning and left him in a pool of blood.
According to police, they had a quarrel over a girl with whom both were acquainted the previous night.
The deceased was identified as Amol Keshav Salve, a driver by profession and resident of D R Patil Quarry Chawl in Bonsari village in Turbhe.
Police said that the accused, who was identified as Rajesh Arjun Waghmare, was also a driver and living in the same Chawl in Turbhe.
According to Salve’s uncle Babu Salve (60), who registered a complaint against the accused at Turbhe MIDC police station, the deceased was living with his mother Latabai Salve in DR Patil Chawl. Around three days ago, his mother had gone to her native village.
Since Salve’s mother was out of town, Waghmare was living with him for the last three days. On Wednesday morning, a neighbour informed Babu Salev that his nephew was murdered as he was lying in a pool of blood. According to neighbours, the accused Waghmare was seen leaving Salve’s home in the morning.
The police arrested Waghmare from the Turbhe area and in the initial investigation, they found that they had a fight regarding a girl to whom they were knowing. A case has been registered against him under section 302 of IPC for murder.
