Businessman shot at, robbed of Rs 9 lakh in Mandi Gobindgarh

PATIALA: Three shooters injured a Mandi Gobindgarh scrap dealer on Monday and robbed him of Rs 8.9 lakh cash on the Sirhind road of Fatehgarh Sahib district while he was on his way to work. Injured Parminder Singh, 39, is from Sirhind.
The Fatehgarh Sahib police, who registed this case, said the shooters had come on a motorcycle and blinded the scrap dealers with chilli powder to take away his cash but he resisted, at which one of the robbers shot him in the chest. Parminder Singh was moved to a hospital in Mandi Gobindgarh, which referred him to Patiala’s Government Rajindra Hospital. The scrap dealer is out of danger, claim the doctors, while police claim to be investigating the matter. The accused were booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act, Mandi Gobindgarh station house officer (SHO)inspector Mohammad Jamil has confirmed. tnn
