Asansol: At a time when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was holding a party meeting at Asansol, a group of people who are awaiting jobs started protesting during the meeting.

Slamming the CPI (M) lawyer Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, Mamata said that she has 17,000 vacancies ready but cannot proceed as the matter is subjudice.

“I have 17,000 vacancies ready but not me. Those who are awaiting jobs have moved to the Calcutta High Court and till the court gives its verdict I cannot take any action. I didn’t move the court but I am eager to give job. Those who have moved court should take Bhattacharya to take action,” said Mamata.

Taking further potshots, Mamata said that Bhattacharya has ‘enough’ money and is ‘misleading’ poor people.

“I have created more posts during my cabinet meeting but since the matter is subjudice I cannot do anything. Those who have cut money I have taken strict action against them,” added the Chief Minister.

Countering the claims of Mamata, senior CPI (M) leader and lawyer Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya said that the Chief Minister should step down from her post and he will give jobs to people within minutes after Mamata’s ‘resignation’.

“The Chief Minister should first resign from her post and should also give back the money that is taken by Trinamool Congress government promising people to give jobs. Cut money and corruption is in the veins of the TMC government. If the TMC government cannot give jobs then I will do the needful but after Mamata resigns. She should give jobs according to merit,” mentioned Bhattacharya.

BJP national vice president Dilip Ghosh said that under no circumstances the TMC supremo can ‘ignore’ cut money instances in her party.

“A video has gone viral where people are begging for jobs and these people have given several rupees to TMC leaders after being promised a job,” added Ghosh.
