Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh): More than 100 people of Guhadi-Madhepura village complained of vomiting and diarrhea allegedly after consuming contaminated drinking water from a common well of the village.
The condition of about 30, including females, children, and the elderly is said to be critical and have been admitted to the district hospital.
The villagers of Guhadi-Madhepura, situated 3 km from the district headquarters, however, claimed that the well has been contaminated due to the mixing of medicine in the pond near the well.
"We have been drinking the well water for a long time but have never faced any such problem. It was only after mixing medicine in the pond water that the villagers complained of health issues."
CMHO Dr BL Yadav said, "The PHE team has started testing of water of the pond and the well. Samples of water have been taken. The reason behind the outbreak of the disease is yet to be known. Teams of health officials have been sent for the treatment of patients. Condition of all the patients is stable."
