Malayalam actress Ambika Rao of ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ fame passes away at 58

She reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest.

Malayalam actress Ambika Rao, best known for her performance in 'Kumbalangi Nights', passed away on Monday night.

The actress reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest which caused her death.

Rao was aged 58 at the time of her death.

According to a report in Times of India, Rao breathed her last at around 10.30 pm on June 27 at a hospital in Ernakulam. She was undergoing treatment after contracting COVID-19.

Ambika Rao is survived by her children - Rahul and Sohan.

Besides acting, Rao was also a part of the film industry as an assistant director. She had, in fact, entered the industry as an AD, with the 2002 release ‘Krishna Gopalakrishna’ helmed by Balachandra Menon.

Several members of the south film industry extended their heartfelt condolences and respects after the news of Rao's demise broke. Tovino Thomas, Anna Ben, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kunchacko Boban, and many others mourned the demise of the late actress.
