KALYAN: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena MLA Pramod (Raju) Patil welcomed the naming of Navi Mumbai airport after DB Patil but raised doubt over chief minister Uddhav Thackeray's intention behind it.
Raju Patil issuing a statement said, "We welcome the naming of the airport after DB Patil because this was the demand of all our Agri and Koli communities from Navi Mumbai, Thane and Raigad District. But I doubt CM's intention of declaring it now when his government is in trouble because earlier when our communities delegation had gone to meet the CM over this demand, he had left meeting from the middle".
Looking at the demand of Agri and Koli communities from Navi Mumbai and the Thane region, CM Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday has assured a delegation that the Navi Mumbai International Airport will be named after PAP leader Late D B Patil.
Thackeray even told the delegation that he was never opposed to giving the name of late DB Patil to the airport. The CIDCO earlier resolved to name the airport after Shiv Sena founder Late Balasaheb Thackeray.
After CM's announcement locals especially leaders from Agri and Koli communities leaders are happy.
Former Shiv Sena MLA Subhash Bhoir said, "We are happy with CM's stand on airport name on DB Patil and today is like Diwali for our community people".
