Bhopal: Drug-free villages to receive Rs 2 lakh special reward, announces CM

‘We must ensure that our Panchayats are beti-friendly.’

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said here on Monday that a special reward of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to drug-free villages.

He said, “To make the villages drug-free, an environment should be created through mutual dialogues and various inspirational activities and anti-drug addiction campaign is launched from samras panchayats.”

Referring to women empowerment he said, “We must ensure that our Panchayats are ‘Beti friendly’. More respect, honor and dignity of daughters must be ensured. Sons and daughters must be treated equally.”

Chouhan was addressing at the CM House a felicitation ceremony of the representatives who formed samras panchayats by getting elected unopposed.

The CM thanked the villagers for electing the panchayat representatives unopposed.

Chouhan said anyone who cast an evil eye on a mother, sister or daughter would not be spared. Samras panchayats had to set an example in the whole country by their work. Public service, development of the village, systematic and result-oriented operation of anganwadi, school, panchayat, community building should be the priority.

“Let us ensure that no child remains malnourished in our Panchayat”, he added.

Panchayat and rural development minister Mahendra Singh Sisodia, MP Ramakant Bhargava, former minister Ramkrishna Kusmaria, MLA Sitaram Adivasi and public representatives were present.

He was felicitated by all the sarpanch present in the programme.

The CM said, “As many as 630 sarpanch, 157 janpad panchayat members and one district panchayat member have been elected unopposed in the state. An incentive of Rs 5 lakh will be given if a sarpanch is elected unopposed in any panchayat, Rs 7 lakh for the post of sarpanch if ​​the current and previous election is unopposed, and Rs 7 lakh will be provided if ​​all the panch and sarpanch are elected unopposed.”

Similarly, he said, an incentive of Rs 12 lakh would be given to the panchayat if women were elected to all the posts of sarpanch and panch while Rs 15 lakh would be given to such a panchayat where women were elected unopposed to all the posts of panch and sarpanch.
