Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Congress party on Monday released election manifesto for local civic body election by promising to reduce property and water tax by half. It has also promised free WiFi facility in city and a dust-free Bhopal. MPPCC president Kamal Nath, mayoral candidate Vibha Patel, senior Congress leader Suresh Pachauri were present on the occasion.

Other points include charging Rs 50 per month for water tax from EWS families, reduction in property tax from commercial or residential areas on main roads, Bhopal to be developed tourist and film city, Mayor Rojgar Scheme, 10 lakh plantations to make Bhopal green city, Mayor Health Scheme, bulk water connection to be converted to individual water connection, check on random demolition, children’s parks, hostels for working women, BRTS facilities for students, better traffic plan, reduction in compounding fee etc.

Taking a dig at Congress’s manifesto, former mayor and BJP state vice president Alok Sharma said Congress has made lot of promises but how will it mobilise funds to fulfill it?

Sharma said. “It is a matter of great surprise that the same Congress party is promising the people of the city to make Bhopal a clean, beautiful and safe city, which had made the entire state a hell during its rule.”

Congress's Sankalp Patra is a bundle of false promises and the Congress party is trying to deceive the people of the capital, Sharma added.

Sharma said that Congress promises Mayor Rozgar Yojana, but it is the same Congress, which had promised to provide employment or unemployment allowance to the youth even before the assembly elections.

He said that Congress has talked about providing them basic facilities and connecting them with employment through self-help groups. But Congress had stopped Sambal Yojana. He said that it is the same Congress which talked about Mayor's health scheme had created obstacles in the implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme in Madhya Pradesh.
