The rebel Shiv Sena camp led by Eknath Shinde on Monday released a statement after relief from the Supreme Court. In the 4-page statement shared by the camp's spokesperson Deepak Kesarkar claimed their move is to safeguard Hindutva and not a rebellion while attacking the Maha Vikas Aghadi government once again. Also, the suggestion has been given to Uddhav Thackeray to allow the alliance of Shiv Sena with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
‘’This is not a rebellion but a fight for Shiv Sena's self-respect... I request party chief Uddhav Thackeray to consider & make a new alliance with BJP. BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is in line with the verdict given by the people of Maharashtra,’’ said Kesarkar. He further added, ‘’We will not stop till win the fight. The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance will take Maharashtra to great heights of development.’’
‘’It is unfortunate that Sanjay Raut, who hasn’t been elected by the people, is set off to finish our party. Sanjay Raut is NCP’s blue-eyed boy. You may succeed in distancing the Shiv Sena from the BJP. But if you are trying to distance the Shiv Sena from Hindutva- how do you expect us to tolerate it?’’ asked Kesarkar. ‘’Even more unfortunate is that if the party is being run on Sanjay Raut’s advice, that too at the cost of isolating people like us who get elected by the people multiple times, then what option do we have? Sanjay Raut has committed the heinous crime of distancing Uddhav from us. NCP fires the gun from Sanjay Raut’s shoulder and who does the bullet hit? Not enemies of our party but loyalists like us. This is not acceptable to us,’’ he noted.
‘’But what kind of power is it when you (CM Uddhav Thackeray) are at a point of self-destruction? We will never accept it. What is the point of power and positions if Shiv Sena itself will cease to exist?’’ asked Kesarkar.
CM Uddhav Thackeray tried to resign twice, Sharad Pawar stopped him
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray wanted to resign from the post on Monday, June 27, as per sources. The chief minister reportedly wanted to announce the decision at 5 pm today via social media. However, sources added that NCP chief Sharad Pawar convinced Uddhav Thackeray not to resign as Maharashtra CM. The chief minister had offered to resign twice but was reportedly convinced against it by Sharad Pawar.
As reported by the Free Press Journal, Thackeray in his Facebook live address last week had offered to resign as the CM and also as the Shiv Sena President even if one of the disgruntled legislators come and tell him in person.
