Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): A total of 863 polling stations in Kukshi, Bagh, Nisarpur and Dahi development blocks of Dhar district were monitored smoothly in the first phase of panchayat elections. This was made possible by the use of Information Technology (IT). IT systems were installed at all the booths with the head control room in Kukshi.
According to the information, a special communication plan was prepared by the district administration and SDM. For this, maps of the four development blocks were prepared and information of each polling station was displayed on the control room's computer screens. In this, moment-to-moment information was collected from the field and data was updated continuously. This led to better monitoring of all the four blocks.
The geographical conditions are difficult in all the blocks. The areas are hilly and many types of problems remain a challenge here. Situations like disputes and violence also come to the fore. Collector Pankaj Jain was constantly handling this system.
IT system's trial started a day before the elections. When the counting teams had reached their respective polling stations, they were indicated on a specially prepared map. Through this, the entire four development blocks were monitored by officials sitting in Kukshi itself.
