Congress party is organizing Satyagraha against the Agnipath scheme in all the 90 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh on Monday, Congress Communication Department Chief Sushil Anand Shukla said.

It is a one-day state-level demonstration in which all the MLAs and office bearers of the Congress Party's Chhattisgarh unit will lead the protest in their respective constituencies. "We are very much concerned about the security of the nation and the future of the Agniveer army jawans," Shukla said.

Earlier Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and other senior leaders of the Congress party staged demonstrations against the controversial Agniveer Scheme.

Apart from sitting on Satyagraha, AICC Secretary and MLA Vikash Upadhyay is also organizing a recitation of Sundarkanda in his constituency Raipur (West).

Vikash informed that the mass level agitation will begin around 10 o’clock in the morning and conclude by 1 pm on Monday.

"Congress is a secular party, we are all aware of it but the present mainstream inclination is towards Hindutva and encash the opportunity to grab media attention, the MLA made provision of recitation of Sundarkanda," experts said.

Meanwhile, Congress State President Mohan Markam made a controversial appeal to the youth and asked them not to apply for the ‘Agniveer’ scheme. Youth must register their dissent using non-violence tools as Mahatma Gandhi did, Markam said.

AICC leader Shobha Oza who also addressed a press conference on the issue at Rajiv Bhawan, Raipur on Sunday, criticized the Agniveer scheme in strong words and said, it is an attempt to dupe the youth.

The Modi government must withdraw the scheme in the national interest and youth of the country, Oza demanded.
