Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh): The parents of Aditya Shrivastava, who led the MP Team to the historic win in Ranji Trophy on Sunday, are elated beyond words. Aditya, with his parents, sister and wife, lives in Signature Residency on Kolar Road in the city.
His father Rakesh Shrivastava is a businessman and mother Archana is a housewife. "If Aditya hadn't joined competitive cricket, he would have just played cricket as a sport all his life. He was good sportsman from the very start and wanted to pursue a career in it. After joining Ankur cricket club, he improved his game under his instructor Jyoti Prakash Tyagi,” Rakesh Shrivastava told Free Press.
“Bhaiyya (Aditya) has scripted history,” his mother kept repeating on the phone. Aditya’s father said that he had done schooling from DPS and obtained BCom degree from Extol College. Rakesh said that years back cricket Shafkat Mohammed Khan had advised them never to stop their son from playing cricket. “He is very talented,” Shafkat had told us.
At the age of 12, Aditya was selected for MP cricket squad and was placed in the central zone. The following year, he was named captain of the central zone and MP teams. He was a successful student. “Despite the fact that playing cricket is viewed as a risky career, we had full faith in him because he was destined to be a cricketer,” Shrivastav said.
Anurag Mishra, also from Bhopal, contributed majorly to victory of state’s team. "Yeh ladka dinbhar batting kar sakta hai." This is what Anurag Mishra, the elated coach of Yash Dubey told media after Yash scored a century against Mumbai. Bhopal's coach Shailesh Shukla trained him when he was only seven. "He started playing cricket at a summer camp under me. Later, I told his father that he could be a great player if he attends classes regularly," said his first coach Shailesh Shukla. Yash has been groomed under several coaches before making it to Ranji Trophy team.
