PATNA: Hundreds of devotees from across the country will attend the Lord Jagannath ‘rath yatra’ to be taken out in the state capital by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (
ISKCON) on July 1.
ISKCON spokesman Nand Gopal Das said artists from different states are busy in making the ‘rath’ based on hydraulic system capable of raising the height up to 40 feet. “However, while passing through the roads having low lying live wires, the system would be able to decrease it up to 16 feet,” he said.
Welcome arches are being erected at some points where devotees would shower flowers and offer ‘arti’ to the deities including Jagannath, Baldev and Subhadra.
“Thousands of devotees from Russia, England and
Mauritius would also participate in the event,” Das said.
Originating from the ISKCON temple, the ‘rath’ would pass through Taramandal, Dak Bungalow Crossing, Gandhi Maidan, Exhibition Road, Fraser Road and Mahavir Temple before reaching back to the ISKCON.
