VADODARA: A labourer engaged in cleaning the lake in Kamlanagar area on Ajwa Road noticed a plastic bag along with the garbage.
When he pulled out the plastic bag to check its content, he was shocked. The bag was full of Rs 2,000 currency notes.
The labourer immediately contacted the cops and informed them about the currency notes worth Rs 5.30 lakh. The Bapod police have begun investigations in the case. The incident had occurred on the eve of PM
Narendra Modi’s visit to the city. The cops verified if the currency notes from the bank and began investigations after it came to light that all the notes were genuine. The police said that it is scanning CCTV footage of the area to ascertain the identity of those who may have disposed of the cash.
It is suspected that someone may have disposed of the cash to avoid getting caught during an income tax raid.
