NEW DELHI: Technical solutions to neutralise sticky bombs and real time traffic management of yatra convoys and RFID-tagged devotees' trek from the base camps to the Amarnath cave from a state-of-the-art, integrated command and control centre in Srinagar, are some of key measures given final shape at the Unified Command meeting taken by J&K LG Manoj Sinha to secure the annual pilgrimage being held after a two-year gap.
J&K government sources said after the meeting - attended by Army, BSF, CRPF, Jammu and
Kashmir government and police and intelligence brass - that high-tech gadget solutions developed by countries like Israel to make sticky bombs ineffective will be used to secure Amarnath yatra convoys. The SOPs for regular checking of vehicles to detect sticky bombs, strategically managing their movement to make it difficult for terrorists to plant sticky bombs and finally neutralising sticky bombs were the terrorists to plant them on a vehicle, have all been planned to the last detail.
Sources said all necessary facilities including healthcare, communication, water sanitation are in place for the yatra, which begins on June 30. Optic cable network has been laid along the entire yatra route to ensure connectivity and real-time tracking of the movements of yatris as well as convoy traffic from the integrated command and control centre.
