Bokaro: The district administration has launched a door-to-door survey to identify residents above 60 years of age who are not tax payers so that they can be enrolled in government’s universal pension scheme.
As per records, at present 1,25,275 in that category are not covered by social security pension scheme. The survey is being done to track those who are yet to be identified.
Deputy development commissioner Kirtishree G on Thursday said, “The voters list and the list of beneficiaries of various social security pension schemes are being updated. The team members would conduct a door-to-door survey to look for beneficiaries.”
Block development officers and circle officers have been asked to conduct and monitor survey in their areas before July 8, 2022. A team has been formed by the BDOs at the level of each polling station under their block who will check the voter list and search elderly persons.
The universal pension scheme is meant for all above 60 years of age who will get the benefit of the pension scheme provided the applicant is not a taxpayer. The applicant will not get benefit if he or his wife is working in the central and state government or are a retired employee. This pension scheme has been started by the Jharkhand government from November 2021.
